Save a Tooth and Keep Your Smile

Saving a natural tooth with a root canal lets you keep your smile. This means the natural function and feel of your bite, its aesthetics, and bone health/structure.

A root canal is typically needed when you have a deep cavity, trauma, or abscess.

Toothaches and pain, discoloration, and extreme sensitivity are all common symptoms that indicate that you may need a root canal. By having this restorative treatment done, you can expect:

  • Stops Pain & Infection – The infected pulp of the tooth is removed, which prevents infection, reduces inflammation, and eases pain
  • Maintains Function – You can chew and drink just as you’ve always done; plus, you won’t have a gap (from an extraction), which allows your teeth to shift
  • Affordable – A root canal is far more affordable than placing a dental implant to restore the look and function of a smile

From one’s diet and access to dental care to lifestyle choices and age, the need for root canals can stem from many different areas. A consultation with one of our dentists will help you understand the value of saving your natural tooth with root canal treatment, and ease any anxieties you may have about getting it done.

What to Expect During a Root Canal

At River Run Dental Spa, we’ve transformed dental care to make you feel completely at ease.

Anxious about getting a root canal? Gone the moment you come through the doors.

Our comfort amenities, gentle techniques, calm chairside manner, and state-of-the-art dental setup make your experience pain-free and lead to great outcomes. Your visit will involve:

  • Consultation & Exam – Our dentists will do a thorough exam and consultation so you’re well-informed about the procedure and whether it’s right for you
  • Numbing & Calmness – We apply numbing agents to the area so you won’t feel a thing during treatment; we also help you settle in and get relaxed
  • Cleaning & Prep – We thoroughly disinfect teeth and gums, and add a dental dam to keep the area dry
  • Procedure – We remove the infected pulp from the tooth and replace it with a rubbery material; the tooth is then sealed.

Treatment is usually completed in one visit. A dental crown may be included as part of the root canal procedure if deemed necessary (and requires additional visits). Once completed, your tooth will look and feel just as it always has, but without pain and discomfort!

Frequently Asked Questions About Extractions

No at all, because we use strong numbing agents on the area. Additionally, the serene environment we’ve crafted will ease your mind so you won’t feel stressed. You’ll have a pleasant time at our dental office!

Not always. That’s why it’s important to do routine checkups and to see us as soon as you start to feel pain. We may be able to catch the problem soon enough. However, you may need a dental crown if the tooth is too damaged from a cavity. Your dentist will let you know.

A root canal is a medical necessity under most insurance plans. So, yes, they are covered, but it’s best to check with your provider since other factors may apply such as waiting periods, premiums, and the like. If you’re without insurance, we accept flexible financing options and also have an in-house dental savings program that can help you save on treatment.
