If you’ve been to the grocery store or drugstore lately, you may have noticed that there is a wide range of toothpaste available. It can be overwhelming to make a choice as there are so many brands and types of toothpastes.
You may be tempted to choose the toothpaste that is most expensive as higher price typically means higher quality. Before doing so, however, it’s important to understand why some toothpaste cost more than others.
The truth is that many expensive toothpastes are similar to more affordable toothpastes. Theodent is an example of a pricey toothbrush. It’s costly because it comes in a chocolate favor and claims to use the power of cocoa bean to improve oral health. We think Theodent is overpriced and not better than mint flavored toothpaste.
Another higher end toothpaste is California Breath. California Breath was created by a Hollywood dentist and claims to fight bad breath and cavities at the same time. When looking at the ingredients of this toothpaste, we realized that they were the same ingredients that can be found on less expensive toothpastes.
When shopping for toothpaste, don’t focus on price. Instead, make sure it has at least 1000 ppm of fluoride and has received a seal of approval by the American Dental Association.
