Do you grind or clench your teeth at night? 💤

You may benefit from wearing a nightguard! They even out the pressure across your jaw and create a physical barrier between your upper and lower teeth to protect them from further damage.

Nightguards are made of a hard plastic that is customized for your bite.

Bonus 👉🏽 Many dental insurance plans offer assistance toward a night guard! If you're not sure whether a nightguard is a good option for you, feel free to ask us about them at your next dental visit!
June 26th is Toothbrush Day! 🦷 In honor June 26th is Toothbrush Day! 🦷

In honor of this holiday, we will share some tips from our doctors on how to brush your teeth like a Dentist:

1️⃣ Divide your mouth up into four quadrants: Top left, Top right, Bottom left, Bottom right. Then, brush your teeth from front to back, moving from left side of your mouth to the right, or if you prefer, right to left. Make sure to clean the outer surface of your teeth, then the inner surface, and finally the chewing surface. And don’t forget to brush your tongue, it helps to freshen your breath!

2️⃣ Brushing three times a day is ideal. If you can brush once after every meal–breakfast, lunch, and dinner–you minimize the growth of bacteria in your mouth. But wait an hour after each meal: brushing too soon can cause damage to the enamel of your teeth. If you aren't able to brush after eating, rinse your mouth out with water to neutralize the pH in your mouth.

3️⃣ How much toothpaste should you use? Use half the amount of toothpaste that you normally would, and divide your brushing up into two steps. Use toothpaste for the top of your mouth, and when you have completed brushing and rinsing your top teeth it’s time to stop. Then, add another round of toothpaste, and use this to clean the bottom of your mouth. Keep in mind the dental tips mentioned above, working through the quadrants of your mouth in a methodical manner.

4️⃣ Don't forget to floss! You thought we were going to forget, didn’t you? 😋 You miss cleaning up to 40% of your tooth surface if you don't floss. So for now, we will just leave a gentle reminder: Brush+Floss!
📣 DON'T FORGET! Now through June 30th we 📣 DON'T FORGET!

Now through June 30th we are giving away Season Passes to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA!

Should you get a replacement retainer? 🤔 Should you get a replacement retainer? 🤔

⭐ While retainers are durable, there’s no guarantee they’ll last forever. In fact, there’s a good chance you’ll have to replace your retainer at some point in time. If you notice some cracks in the plastic, it’s in your best interest to order a replacement. Cracks can increase in size and prevent your retainer from functioning.

⭐ You may also want to replace your retainer if it starts to feel loose. Over time, your retainer will probably widen and no longer fit you as tightly as it used to. When this happens, it won’t be able to keep your teeth in place, making a replacement vital.

⭐ Additionally, your retainer may lose its shape, especially if you clean it in hot water or throw it in the dishwasher. If you notice your retainer doesn’t fit well, you need a new one so that it can do its job properly. (PS: please don't continue putting it in the dishwasher! We can teach you how to properly clean it 😉)

⭐ For a replacement retainer, don’t hesitate to contact us. Don’t wait to reach out as the longer you wait, the more likely your teeth are to shift.

Our Dentists and Dental Hygienists recommend elect Our Dentists and Dental Hygienists recommend electric brushes to many of our patients. This is because we regularly see what a great job they do when used properly. However, using an electronic toothbrush is a little different than brushing with a manual brush. We’ve broken down what you need to know about caring for an electronic toothbrush! ⚡

Did you know that studies show that electric toothbrushes do a better job of cleaning when compared to a manual toothbrush? In fact, one study conducted found that plaque and gingivitis were significantly reduced after switching to electric toothbrush use. After just three months, there was a 21 percent reduction in plaque, and an 11 percent reduction in gingivitis 🧬

So, what exactly does "dental spa" mean? 🤔

The main difference between a traditional dentist’s office and a dentist office that offers spa dentistry is that the latter is focused on the patient experience. This is great for people who have a fear of going to the dentist, those who expect more attention and amenities from their dentist, and people who want an enhanced dental experience. Spa dentistry offers a new way of caring for your teeth.
Have you ever felt pain or discomfort after a taki Have you ever felt pain or discomfort after a taking bite of ice cream or eating a bowl of hot soup? If so, you’re not alone. While pain caused by hot or cold foods could be a sign of a cavity, it also could just be sensitivity. 🦷

Tooth sensitivity is exactly what it sounds like: pain or discomfort experienced in response to things such as hot or cold temperatures. It may be temporary or a chronic problem, and it can affect anything from one tooth to all of your teeth. To learn more, we asked one of our Registered Dental Hygienists to give us insight into this common issue.

Still have Questions? Our award-winning dental team can identify or rule out any underlying causes of your tooth pain. Depending on the circumstances, your dentist might recommend desensitizing toothpaste, fluoride, bonding or a root canal. If you’re bothered by sensitive teeth, book your next River Run appointment today. ✅
