EXPERT DENTAL EXAMS & CLEANINGS FOR LASTING ORAL WELLNESS

Dental checkups allow dentists to detect and prevent tooth decay & loss and gum disease before they become painful and problematic.

An exam also serves to improve your overall well-being.

There is a strong link between teeth & gum health and your wellness; it reveals risks such as heart disease and other health problems. Likewise, preventative dentistry helps you keep a smile that makes you feel confident and happy with your appearance.

Professional cleanings address plaque and tartar that you may not be able to get to at home through brushing and flossing alone. By coming in frequently for these check-ups, you’ll have a happier smile that doesn’t lead to aches and costly restorative procedures.

MAINTAIN A BEAUTIFUL SMILE WITH PREVENTIVE DENTAL CARE

Going to the dentist for an exam and cleaning should be a fun and rewarding experience. That’s why we put so much effort into creating a relaxing and welcoming environment at our offices. It’s also why our dentists and team take so much care into their chairside manner—so that you aren’t afraid to get the treatment you need and really enjoy the experience!

Your oral health begins and continues to thrive when you visit us for:

Dental Exams

We do a comprehensive oral examination of your teeth and gums. This, along with cavity detection, oral cancer screenings, x-rays, and talking with you about your needs and goals, gives us information we need to create and personalize a treatment plan for you. We recommend you visit us for a dental exam at least every six months to keep your smile fresh and pearly white.

Simple and Deep Cleanings

Keeping up with exams and dental cleanings make each trip easier and faster. Given oral hygiene is practiced at home, a simple cleaning is likely all that’s needed during a visit. If you haven’t been to the dentist in some time, then a deep cleaning may be appropriate. Whichever is done, you’ll finish your visit with teeth and gums that feel completely refreshed and polished.

Gum Disease Treatment

Gums are as important to maintain as your teeth. Our hygienists and dentists can address issues related to your gums through education, root scaling and planing, and antibiotic therapy. Our multi-stage approach will help prevent tooth loss, bad breath, and issues that arise from poor gum health.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are protective coatings applied to the back teeth which acts as a barrier when chewing. Sealants are effective at stopping the bacteria that causes tooth decay from getting into hard-to-reach areas. Sealants are ideal for children, but adults can get them too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting the dentist every six months for a checkup and cleaning is recommended. Depending on your individual needs, you may need to visit more or less frequently. Our dentist will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your dental health.

Dental cleanings aren’t typically painful. However, you will likely feel some pressure as we remove tartar buildup. If you require a deep cleaning, then you may feel swelling and some discomfort in your gums. Talk with our doctors so they can adapt the procedure to your needs and tolerance.

Most exams take about an hour to complete because of how extensive we get with your history, consultation, and treatment planing. The cleaning will take about half an hour once you’ve completed the exam.

Regular brushing, flossing, and rinsing will keep your smile healthy and bright. Your diet will also play a role which is why we recommend you avoid sugary drinks and foods which can cause tooth decay.

A regular cleaning removes plaque and buildup from the teeth and along the gumline. A deep cleaning treats infection below the gumline and is used when gum disease is present. Your dentist will recommend the best one for your oral health based on your exam.

You may need a deep cleaning (aka. root planning and scaling) if you have your gums have inflammation, showing recession, or have deep pockets. A dental exam allows your dentist to get an idea of your gum health and determine whether deeper treatment is needed.

Brush and floss as usual before your visit. We encourage you to complete any new patient forms ahead of time if possible. And, to share any medical updates or areas of sensitivity so your care can be adapted to your needs.

Yes. River Run Dental Spa offers comfort focused amenities to help patients feel calm during cleanings. The team takes a gentle approach and explains each step before moving forward. It’s our mission have you feeling complete relaxed throughout the visit.

It’s okay. We understand that life keeps you busy and that many experience anxiety that prevents them from seeing the dentist. If it has been several years since your last cleaning, your dentist will begin with a thorough exam. Care is never rushed, and recommendations are based on your comfort and current oral health. You’ll have a wonderful experience that will start your journey to greater oral health.

River Run Dental Spa is accepting new patients. Appointments can be requested online or by contacting one of our offices directly. The team can help schedule a convenient time and review insurance or savings options in advance.

A dental exam involves us checking the health of your teeth, gums, and bite. Your dentist will look for signs of decay, gum issues, or structural changes. We may need to do x-rays to identify issues that aren’t readily visible during the exam.

If an issue is identified, your dentist will explain what it means and discuss recommended next steps. We’ll outline your treatment options so you know exactly what to expect before, during, and after.

River Run Dental Spa works with many dental insurance providers and offers a dental wellness savings program for patients without insurance. Payment options are reviewed in advance so expectations are clear before care begins.
