3 Secrets for a More Photogenic Smile

Have you ever seen a picture of yourself and wondered what was going on with your smile? Amazingly enough, one bad photo can have the ability to make you feel like years of orthodontic treatment, good oral hygiene, and whitening treatments were a waste when in reality we all know that simply isn’t true. These 3 secrets for a more photogenic smile will make sure that you never find yourself camera-shy again!

1. Try to Relax

A general rule of thumb is that if your face hurts when you smile then you are probably smiling too hard. If you feel yourself straining when you pose for a photo, start by relaxing your jaws and cheekbones to reveal a more natural look. Next, focus on smiling with your eyes. This will relieve some of the pressure from your lips and mouth, allowing you to relax and flash a photogenic smile!

2. Wear Lipstick

This tip is meant for all the ladies who desire a more photogenic smile. Lipstick will always help your smile look better! The trick is to pick a shade that works well with your skin tone.

To determine what shade works best, look at the underside of your wrist in natural light. If your veins appear to have a blue tint then you have a cool undertone, which means pinks and berries look best on you. If your veins appear to have a green tint then you have a warm undertone, which means peaches and corals will look best on you.

3. Master the Head Tilt

If you take a closer look at pictures of models and celebrities, they are almost never facing the camera straight on. To help achieve a more photogenic smile, get into the habit of tilting your head to one side and towards the camera, creating the illusion of more depth as opposed to a flat surface.
